When did this opportunity become available?

Medical Cost Sharing has been around for over 30 years. It was primarily used by religious organizations. Now it is becoming non-religious based.

Who is eligible for OneLife Cares?

There are not many restrictions on joining. If you are over 18 and younger than 65, living in the US…than join.

Is this an insurance plan?

No, we are NOT an insurance plan. We are a 501c3 not for profit corporation that provides health care alternatives to its members.

What happens if I fall into difficult times and I am unable to make my monthly share? Do I lose all rights?

Staying in communication with us is the most important thing you can do. We can make adjustments to your plan to help you out. It’s really all about communicating, remember you are joining a group that cares, so be honest and straightforward and we will work with you.

So why OneLife Cares as opposed to the other groups out there?

A couple of quick reasons come to mind. We don’t require a religious pledge and a commitment to live a moral life. For a lot of us, that is a challenge. We also have a better network and much more experience in dealing with sick people than any other group in the market. We have been doing that for over 30 years very successfully. Honestly, we are just the better plan. It’s not bragging if it’s true.

How long does it take for a claim to be paid?

Typically all claims are paid in 60 days.

Is there a co-pay or a Initial Unshareable Amount that I am responsible for?

Sometimes that is a small co-pay associated with a doctor’s visit. And you have an initial amount of claims, a Initial Unshareable Amount, that is your responsibility before you can make a claim against the sharing pool. That amount was chosen by you when you signed up.

Can I choose my own Doctors?

Yes, you can. But, if you use our networks you will get better pricing. We cap our reimbursement rates at the rates we have negotiated with our network. So if you use an out of network Doctor, any charge over our normal rate is your responsibility.

What is the procedure for life-threatening or after-hours emergency?

Call 911, go to an emergency room, or urgent care. Your life is the most important asset you have. Make preserving it the priority.

Is there an on-call 24-hour medical staff?

Yes. And it’s free to call. We want you to use it first when you get sick. So put it on speed dial, and use it.

Is there a waiting period?

We do not have a waiting period at this time.

How about pre-existing conditions? Can I be disqualified or cancelled because of them?

We value honesty. We ask you when you join to give us some basic information about your health, and if you have pre-existing conditions we create a health care plan for you. It helps keep you healthy but also helps us manage the costs associated with your care. If you don’t tell us about the conditions that you have, and it becomes an issue we reserve the right to modify your plan or to cancel you.
